Steven J. Dorcey Steve died peacefully in his sleep during the early morning hours of Thursday, August 21, 2014. He had a long history of health challenges. Steve was 62 years old. Steve was born March 2, 1952 in Janesville, WI. He was the second child born to John and Beverly Dorcey (Propper). Attending Janesville public schools, Steve graduated from Craig Senior High School in 1970. He began his career with General Motors working the assembly line at the Janesville assembly plant. He later became a supervisor there. Steve was among the many GM Janesville employees who transferred to Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 1985. He earned an Associate of Arts degree in Business Management from the Indiana Technical Institute in 1989. His life-long passion was motorcycles and classic cars – restoring, cruising and showing them with others. He enjoyed many years of membership in the Wisconsin Gold Wing Riders Association and Fort Wayne Street Road Association. Steve retired from General Motors in 2006. Following retirement, Steve moved to Wildwood, Florida, in 2007 where he enjoyed car shows, flea markets, time with old and new friends and restoring his 1939 Chevrolet Master Deluxe. He worked for Advance Auto Parts in Wildwood in automotive parts sales. Steve’s family extends a special thank you to his Wildwood friends Doug and Jenny Hall and Steve and Nancy Stone. Visitation followed by a memorial service will be held at Elzey Patterson Rodak Funeral Home, 6810 Old Trail Road in Fort Wayne, Indiana, beginning at 5:00 PM on Friday, September 12. A memorial gathering will be held at the Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 North Wright Road in Janesville, Wisconsin, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 15. A gathering of remembrance will be held at the Continental Country Club’s Magnolia Room in Wildwood beginning at 4:00 PM on Thursday, September 18. Steve was preceded in death by his beloved wife Deb Dorcey (Allen) and his father John. He is survived by his mother Beverly, sister Sue (Mike) Dominy, brothers David and Tom (Corrina) all of Janesville, sister Sandi (Dave) Dobbs, Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin and brother John (Rose), Oshkosh, Wisconsin. He is also survived by step-daughter Dawn Allen-Rauser and her children Erica Elliott and Ethan Rauser of Fort Wayne. He was a favorite uncle to his many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
